ELIGIBILITY AND POINTS

As an honors fraternity, Beta Alpha Psi has certain requirements which must be met prior to initiation. Our Chapter bylaws state that prior to initiation a member will have:

  • Declared a concentration in Accounting, AIS, Finance, Corporate Finance, MIS or be enrolled in the MSA/MST program.
  • Have completed at least one semester of upper division study.
  • Attained a cumulative grade point average in their concentration (upper division accounting courses will be factored in with concentration) of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Attained a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 in all college course work attempted, or have attained at least a 3.25 in the most recent 30 semester units.
  • Completed 60 semester units of college coursework. A student may pledge with only 30 semester units of study completed but will remain a pledge until 60 semester units are complete.
  • A student may pledge without the upper division accounting course, but will not be initiated until an upper division accounting course is completed. Therefore, a student could remain as a pledge for two semesters before being initiated as a member.

To apply for the Gamma Xi chapter, please follow the following steps:

First Time Applicants/Pledges:

  1. Fill out the online membership application [ click here ]
  2. Print and attach transcripts and appropriate dues to the First Time Pledge Application [ click here to download/print ]
  3. Submit the (with transcripts and check) to the Business Tower, suite 850 by the appropriate deadline.
  4. The current BAP President will follow up with you at the appropriate time (after the deadline). No need to contact us unless you have a question.

Continuing Members:

  1. Print and fill out the continuing membership application [ click here to download/ print ]
  2. Attach transcripts and appropriate dues to the continuing membership application
  3. Submit to the Business Tower, suite 850 by the appropriate deadline.
  4. The current BAP President will follow up with you at the appropriate time (after the deadline). No need to contact us unless you have a question.

Terms and Conditions

  • All semester participants must complete their point requirements. We understand that life takes precedence. Please contact us (President@sjsubap.com) so we can work with you.
  • Our Chapter must meet certain requirements. Therefore, each member and pledge will be required to show up for all Chapter meetings and those events that they signed up for on the website.
  • Pledge and members are required to be active in fundraising, Community Service and Professional development events.
  • Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) is a professional campus organization. All pledge and members must strive for integrity and professionalism.
  • Please note that BAP requires all participants to pay fundraising dues of $60 over the course of the semester. Total out of pocket dues (not including optional BAP apparel) is $145 for First time/Pledge.  $135 for Members, and $125 for Gold Members.

Refund Policy

  • A $20 fee will be assessed should an applicant be accepted into the organization and decide not to join.
  • For the return check, Beta Alpha Psi will charge the full amount of the return fee to the applicant.
  • No refund will be available after the application deadline.
  • Please note that resigning Pledge/Membership without written consent may result in expulsion from Beta Alpha Psi. This simply means that you may not be eligible to rejoin in the future.
